Nature Ninja 5K Run is coordinated by Solutionary Events, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a mission to create healthy, compassionate, and environmentally regenerative communities through leading socially responsible plant-based events.

Necessary Items to Bring:

  • Photo ID

  • Signed waiver (will be available on race day)

  • Reusable water bottle

  • Appropriate shoes and clothes

  • $5 for parking

Recommended Items to Bring:

  • Change of clothing

  • An extra pair of shoes

  • Towel (You WILL get wet)

WHAT TO EXPECT

Arrival

PLEASE ARRIVE NO LATER THAN 1 HOUR BEFORE YOUR OFFICIAL WAVE TIME TO SIGN IN AND RETRIEVE YOUR RACE PACKET.

 

Lodging
If you are traveling from out of town, there are a few lodging options. There are several hotels/motels in Gainesville and Ocala. There are also cabins and camp sites available located next to Cedar Lakes Woods and Gardens at Devil’s Den (you will need to reserve these early). Pricing is available online at www.devilsden.com.

You will need to bring $5 cash for parking.

Spectators
Spectators are very welcome! Spectators can receive the discounted fee of $8 for adults and $5 fee for children ages 6-13. Children under 6 are free. The spectator fee includes admission to the botanical garden and festival. The regular admission fee is $12 for adults and $7 for children.

Activities
Along with the 5K, we encourage racers to visit eco-friendly vendors and participate in the after party! There will be contests, race trivia, and prizes. Racers are invited to explore Cedar Lakes Woods & Gardens’ 50 separate garden displays and 20 acres of garden trails with waterfalls and koi ponds (included with registration). There will also be activities for children.

Waiver
All participants must complete a liability waiver. We will also have waivers available on race day. If you are a minor, you must have your parent fill out the waiver. If your parent is unable to be present at the race, please provide a copy of your parent’s driver’s license along with the signed waiver.

Race Packet

You will need a photo ID to pick up your packet.  No one can pickup your packet for you nor CAN ANYONE ELSE RUN IN YOUR PLACE.

Registration

Registration will close at midnight before the day of the race.

RULES & SAFETY

STATE LAW REQUIRES PARTICIPANTS TO OBEY ALL WARNINGS AND DIRECTIONS AND BEHAVE IN A MANNER THAT WILL NOT CAUSE OR CONTRIBUTE TO INJURING THEMSELVES OR OTHERS. PARTICIPANTS SHALL REPORT ALL INJURIES BEFORE LEAVING.

Participants MUST comply with ALL POSTED RULES, WARNINGS, AND ORAL INSTRUCTIONS. Parents or guardians of a participant shall have the duty to ensure that the participant complies with these rules, warnings, and instructions.

Health Notice: If you have any of the following conditions, you ARE NOT allowed to race and no refunds may be provided:

  • Current or previous injury to the head, back, neck, or other muscular-skeletal injuries or disabilities.

  • Any respiratory conditions, including asthma or bronchitis.

  • Chronic knee or other joint conditions.

  • Any heart or circulatory conditions.

  • Impairment by drugs or alcohol.

  • Susceptibility to injury from falls or bumps.

  • Open sores, bleeding wounds, or communicable (infectious) disease.

  • Any other condition that might cause problems when physically challenged.

Safety and Rules:

  • All participants must follow the rules and instructions given by the race director, staff, volunteers, medical staff and law enforcement.

  • Participants must arrive at least ONE HOUR before their official wave time.

  • Participants must understand and acknowledge that Nature Ninja Run is a potentially hazardous race and accept all risks associated with the event.

  • Participants must be physically able to complete the course and all obstacles attempted.

  • Participants must be a minimum age of 14 to participate in all obstacles, unless they are directly accompanied by a parent or guardian.

  • Participants must wear the provided race bib facing forward.

  • Photographers and videographers will be documenting Nature Ninja Run. Participants agree to allow Cedar Lakes Woods and Gardens and Solutionary Events to use images or video footage of them for promotional purposes.

  • Non-human animals are not allowed to be brought on the race course.

  • Baby joggers or strollers, skates, bicycles, skateboards or any other type of recreational vehicle or wheeled device are prohibited on the course.

  • Participants are strongly advised to wear shoes. Participants must understand that running barefoot is at their own risk.

  • Restroom facilities will be provided at the event. Do not urinate or defecate on or near the course.

  • Participants must understand that races at Cedar Lakes are eco-friendly events and that any trash, recyclables, and compostables must be disposed of in the appropriate container.

  • Any participant caught cheating, or skipping sections of the course is subject to disqualification.

  • Non-participants are prohibited from entering the course, unless they have written approval from event officials.

  • Participants not wearing an official bib number and timing device are disqualified.

  • Any participant who disobeys course official instructions may be disqualified and/or removed from the race at the discretion of the course official and race director. Violations include unsportsmanlike behavior, offensive language and conduct, nudity, improper or irresponsible behavior, or the inability to complete an obstacle.

  • Participants assume all responsibility for any and all medical expenses incurred during the event. Participant responsibility includes but is not limited to hospitalization, ambulance transportation or physician services.

  • Cedar Lakes Woods and Gardens and Solutionary Events medical personnel are authorized to examine participants who appear to be injured. Medical personnel have the discretion to remove participants from the event.

  • Cedar Lakes Woods and Gardens and Solutionary Events reserves the right to modify any event rule at any time for any reason. Participants are responsible for knowing and understanding the published rules, including any modifications, prior to the event.

RACE PERKS

Nature Ninja t-shirt (to the right is an example of last year's Devil's Dash shirt)

All race participants will receive a custom Nature Ninja Run t-shirt after the race, made specially with love and eco-friendly inks/organic & ethically sourced material by Ecojoia.

Race Medallion

All finishers will receive a custom handmade eco-friendly medallion. Unique medals will also be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd overall for females and males in the competitive wave.

​​Admission to Cedar Lakes Woods & Gardens

All participants will receive access to over 50 unique garden displays, several waterfalls, and beautiful koi ponds, 20 acres of garden trails, and countless breathtaking views.

Snacks and Refreshments

Plant-based food samples will be at Eco Friendly Adventure Day, along with vegan food vendors!

Trivia, Bumper Balls, and Games

Racers and spectators are invited to participate in optional eco-friendly trivia following the race, as well as bumper ball tournaments, and other games with prizes.

Live Music & Entertainment by The Fickle Souls

Straight from the mountains of North Carolina, the now Tampa based acoustic folk/indie duo, The Fickle Souls are taking music back to its roots, keeping it simple, and keeping it pure. The band was founded in late 2012 when singer/songwriter Cal Olivier decided to move in a new direction, feeling that folk music would allow him to express a truer range of emotion and life experience.

The duo now consists of Cal Olivier on the Guitar and Kick Drum and Hannah Irene on the Harmonium.

Cal Olivier & the Fickle Souls have collectively shared the stage, and studio with the likes of; Bela Fleck & the Flecktones, Tommy Tutone, Greg Hawks (The Cars), Rehab, Steel Pulse, Keller Williams, John Paul White (The Civil Wars), along with many more.
